Marie Martig is a Reader in Astrophysics at Liverpool John Moores University. Her research focuses on the interplay between small-scale physics (gas dynamics, star formation, feedback) and external processes (mergers, gas accretion) in shaping galaxy populations, particularly galactic disk formation and stellar radial migration.
Research Highlights:
- Science coordinator of the GECKOS survey, a VLT/MUSE Large Programme studying chemodynamical properties of 35 nearby edge-on disk galaxies
- Uses numerical simulations and observational data to reconstruct galaxy formation histories
- Investigates spatially resolved stellar abundances, ages, kinematics, and ionized gas dynamics
