معرفی
Marie L. Smith is Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at Birkbeck, University of London's School of Psychological Sciences. Her research explores the development of face processing abilities across childhood and adulthood, using EEG, MVPA, and behavioral methods to examine neural correlates of face recognition expertise.
Education:
- PhD Cognitive Neuroscience, University of London
- MSc Psychology
- BSc Psychology
Research Interests: Her work spans typical and atypical development of face processing, with particular focus on the neural dynamics of face recognition, expression processing in developmental disorders (Williams syndrome, autism), and the impact of expertise on neural responses to facial stimuli.
Publications: Research advances understanding of how face processing develops across the lifespan, with recent work using multivariate pattern analysis to decode neural representations of faces and investigate developmental changes in information processing strategies.
Awards:
- NSF CAREER Award
- Carver Fellowship
- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Honorable Mention
Advising & Labs: Supervises PhD students and postdoctoral researchers investigating neural mechanisms of face processing. Leads the developmental cognitive neuroscience research group at Birkbeck's Department of Psychological Sciences.
