Marie-Jolie Rwigema

Dr. Marie-Jolie Rwigema is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Human Sciences at Concordia University. Her work centers on mental health equity, critical race theory, and intersectional approaches to trauma recovery within Black, Indigenous, and racialized communities.

• Principal Investigator, SSHRC Connection Grant: Resisting white supremacist violence against Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities

Research interests span anti-Black racism, anti-colonialism, LGBTQ+ communities, genocide studies, and youth-focused social work. Publications examine carceral social work abolition and critical analyses of knowledge production during the Rwandan Genocide. Teaching includes courses on diversity in human relations and youth interventions.
