Marie Duruz is a Researcher in New Testament and Ancient Christian Traditions at the University of Lausanne, affiliated with the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies. She joined the institution as a graduate assistant in August 2022, building on prior theological training at the Universities of Lausanne and Geneva.

Research Interests
Marie’s work focuses on feminist and queer reinterpretations of Pauline theology, particularly regarding sexual ethics and relational dynamics. Her current thesis examines the re-semantization of porneía in Proto-Pauline Epistles, analyzing intersections of prostitution, idolatry, and relational anthropology. She integrates historical-critical exegesis, contextual approaches, and hermeneutic analysis of text reception over time.
Teaching and Contributions
- Co-teaches New Testament courses through the preparatory year Reading Workshop
- Presentations include analyses of Paul’s Corinthians correspondence, relational dynamics in Pauline communities, eco-poetics in Rom 8:18-30 and Col 1:15-20, and gendered spatial differentiation in 1 Cor 11:2-16
- Promotes feminist and inclusive readings of Christian founding texts
