Dr. Marie-Claude Heuzey is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal and a member of the Research Center for High-Performance Polymer and Composite Systems (CREPEC). With a Ph.D. from McGill University, her research focuses on rheology, polymer processing, and nanocomposite materials.
- Key expertise areas: Biopolymers, Synthetic Polymers, Gels, Composites
- Major contributions: 3D bioprinting, Cellulose nanocrystal dispersion, Biofilm mechanics
Her work integrates nanotechnology with biomaterials and food science applications, particularly through 3D printing of protein-polysaccharide systems. Recent publications emphasize antimicrobial packaging and viscoelastic modeling of complex polymer systems.
Scientific Honors:
- 2025 Distinguished Women in Chemistry/IUPAC
- 2024 Fellow, Société de rhéologie
She has supervised 29 doctoral and 15 master's students, including notable work on polylactide blends, electrospun hydrogels, and nanocellulose composites. Her research program involves collaborations with industry partners and interdisciplinary projects spanning biomedical and food engineering applications.
