Dr. Marie Busfield is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at Aberystwyth University. Her research focuses on glacial geology, sedimentology, and geomorphology, with fieldwork in Namibia, the European Alps, South Australia, and the western US. Key areas include debris-covered glaciers, subglacial bedform analysis, Snowball Earth studies, and geoheritage promotion. She holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a MGeol from the University of Leicester.
Research Interests:
- Debris-covered glaciers and high mountain landscapes
- Subglacial bedforms in ancient ice streams (e.g., Ordovician and Late Palaeozoic)
- Cryogenian and Paleoproterozoic glaciation analysis
- Geoheritage conservation and geotourism development
