Dr. Marie Boden is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Queensland, where she focuses on human-centred design of digital technology. Her research emphasizes social robotics and innovative tools for teaching and learning, leveraging both quantitative and qualitative methods such as participatory design and iterative prototyping. She holds a PhD in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering from UQ and has over a decade of expertise in educational technology.
Marie’s work has been recognized with awards including the Digital Disrupter Award (2017) and Rising Star (2011). She is actively involved in STEM outreach, leading programs for primary and high school students and advising Queensland’s Department of Education on technology curriculum development. Her research explores long-term impacts of technology design through collaborations with users and educators.
Key projects include Designing the materials of participation and Technology as a creative material in education, which highlight her commitment to impactful, user-driven innovation. Marie’s publications span robotics in education, participatory design methodologies, and STEM ecosystem leadership.
