Marichela Sepe

Marichela Sepe is a researcher at the National Research Council (CNR) since 2001 and affiliated with ISMed since 2019. She collaborates with the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design (DiARC) at the University of Naples Federico II, where she serves as a contract lecturer and previously as a member of the Doctoral Board in Urban Design and Planning. Holding national qualifications as a Professor of 1st and 2nd class (Sector 08/F1: Urban and Territorial Planning), she has held visiting positions at MIT’s DUSP, UC Berkeley’s CED, and Peking University. Her research focuses on urban regeneration, sustainable territorial planning, cultural heritage preservation, post-disaster reconstruction, and public space livability.

Key roles include: Director of the III RUR, member of the INU Board (Campania Vice-President), and Governing Board member of EURA. She coordinates international projects like H2020-LANDSUPPORT (WP3 Lead) and H2020-URBAN MAESTRO. Awards include multiple PAN-Ardito Desio Prizes and INU Literary Awards for urban studies. She leads the 'Geodesign and Urban Design' laboratory at LUPT, University of Naples.

Publications span over 15 books and articles on topics like placemaking, post-earthquake reconstruction, and urban health. Her work bridges theory and practice, emphasizing participatory methodologies and transnational collaboration.
