Marica Valente is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Innsbruck. She holds affiliations with the Women in Data Science (WINDS), Innsbruck Digital Science Center (DiSC), Decision Sciences (IDS), and the Institute for Public Policy Evaluation (IRVAPP FBK). Her research focuses on environmental economics, labor economics, econometrics, and machine learning, with secondary interests in health, conflict, and gender economics. She employs causal inference and big data methodologies.
Educational background: PhD in 2020 from the Berlin School of Economics (Humboldt University) under advisors Bernd Fitzenberger and Jeffrey Wooldridge; Postdoc at ETH Zurich (2021); Graduate (2015) and MA at Toulouse School of Economics.
Research interests emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to societal challenges like environmental sustainability and migration.
