Marianne Tay is a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead for the Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner Training (MHWP) at the University of Worcester, within the School of Health and Wellbeing and the Department of Psychology and Mental Health. She transitioned from a clinical background in NHS Talking Therapies and HM Prison Probation Services into academia, focusing on mental health workforce development. Her role emphasizes partnership with NHS England, particularly in training practitioners to address post-pandemic mental health challenges.
Education & Qualifications:
- BSc Applied (Clinical) Psychology with Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) qualification
- MSc (Oxon.) in Child Development and Education
- PG Dip in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Research & Teaching: Marianne leads the MHWP course, which trains NHS employees in CBT-based clinical skills for adults with severe mental health difficulties. She is a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) on the course and advocates for expanding accessible mental health services.

Contributions: Previously led PWP training at another Midlands higher education institution before joining Worcester in 2022. Her work prioritizes widening mental health workforce diversity to support diverse patient needs post-COVID-19.
