Marianne Sjuls

Marianne Sjuls is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Nursing Science at the University of Agder (UiA), Norway. A Registered Nurse specializing in Intensive Care Nursing, she has clinical experience in pediatric and intensive care units. Since 2016, she has taught in both bachelor’s and master’s programs, serving as course coordinator for anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry courses. Her research focuses on pediatric palliative care, family dynamics, and communication in healthcare, with a current Ph.D. project on fathers’ experiences in pediatric palliative care. She co-founded AnatomUiA, an Instagram initiative for science communication, and collaborates with research groups HEIFA and CHIP.

Research Interests: Qualitative studies on parental experiences in pediatric palliative care, family-centered nursing, first aid training, and social media’s role in medical education. Her work emphasizes psychosocial support, healthcare communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Selected Publications: Her 2024 qualitative systematic review explores fathers’ lived experiences with children facing life-limiting conditions, while her 2015 study examines parents’ experiences in intensive care units. She also investigates digital learning tools like Instagram for anatomy education.

Collaborations: Active in HEIFA (Health in a Family Perspective) and CHIP (interdisciplinary research network) groups, bridging clinical practice, education, and user engagement.

Teaching: Coordinates anatomy and physiology courses, integrating innovative platforms for student outreach.
