Marianne Haseloff is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is affiliated with the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and leads the Glaciology Research Group. Her research focuses on ice sheet dynamics, subglacial processes, and planetary icy bodies, with a particular emphasis on improving ice sheet models through observational and theoretical approaches.
Her work examines topics such as marine ice sheet stability, ice stream dynamics, ice-ocean interactions, and the role of subglacial hydrology. She has contributed to understanding mechanisms like grounding line behavior, meltwater plumes, and the influence of climate warming on glacial systems. Recent projects include analyzing proglacial lake impacts and subglacial esker formations.
Publications highlight her interdisciplinary approach, integrating fluid dynamics, geophysics, and planetary science. Notable contributions include studies on cyclic glacial slip, ice shelf sensitivity to ocean warming, and collaborative research on the Lake Superior Basin. She advises graduate student Campbell Dunn and has secured grants for field-based and computational studies.
