Marianna Lanari is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Biology at the University of Southern Denmark, working on the NordSalt project. She holds a Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from the Federal University of Rio Grande, Brazil. Her research focuses on coastal plant communities, particularly their role in ecosystem functioning, with expertise in estuarine systems, drift macroalgal blooms (green tides), and salt marsh dynamics. She also contributes to ecological data management and conservation initiatives.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography, Federal University of Rio Grande, Brazil (2018)
- M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Biological Sciences, focused on marine ecology (Prior studies)
Research Interests:
- Coastal ecosystem resilience and biodiversity
- Impacts of climate change on estuarine and marine systems
- Carbon sequestration in salt marshes and seagrass beds
- Ecological data harmonization and open science practices
Recent Work Trends: Her articles emphasize cross-disciplinary approaches, linking ecological processes to societal needs, such as sustainable management of coastal habitats. Recent studies address citizen perspectives on conservation, Nordic coastal habitat classification challenges, and greenhouse gas dynamics in coastal zones.
Collaborations: Active in the BR-LTER (Brazilian Long-Term Ecological Research network) and NordSalt initiatives, focusing on international collaboration for coastal ecosystem research and policy.
Labs/Teams: NordSalt Project (SDU), BR-LTER Program (Brazil).
