Marianna Canonaco is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Physics, University of Oslo, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. She works within the Nuclear and Energy Physics group (KEF), focusing on experimental nuclear physics and applications like radioisotope production for nuclear medicine.
Her research aligns with the Oslo Cyclotron Laboratory (OCL), which houses Norway's only accelerator for ionized atoms in basic research. Key projects include studying level densities and radiative strength functions of atomic nuclei, critical for understanding nuclear properties, stellar evolution, and nuclear waste transmutation. OCL also produces isotopes such as 18F for PET imaging and 211At for cancer therapy.
