Mariana Valenzuela

Mariana Valenzuela is a Visiting Professor at the Grantham Research Institute for Environment and Climate Change at the London School of Economics (LSE) from December 2024 to December 2025, and a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Chile. Her work bridges legal frameworks for environmental litigation and civil procedure reform.

• Education: Bachelor of Law and Social Sciences, Law Degree from Catholic University of Chile, Postgraduate degree from Pompeu Fabra University (Spain).

Research Interests: She specializes in quantifying environmental damage, linking natural capital to legal evaluations of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Her focus also includes reparation mechanisms for environmental harm and climate change litigation.

Professional Roles: As a Permanent Member of Chile's Council for State Defense, she co-heads the Environmental and Labor Committee and serves as a Councilor. She also coordinates the Latin American Association of State Defense Institutions' Working Group on Environmental Law.
