Mariana Moura-Ramos

Mariana Moura-Ramos is a clinical and health psychologist at the Clinical Psychology Unit and Reproductive Medicine Unit of the Coimbra Local Health Unit (ULSC). She is also a researcher at the Center for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive Behavioral Intervention (CINEICC) of the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. Currently serving as Head of the Clinical Psychology Unit at CHUC (Coimbra University Hospital), she specializes in individual and couple therapy for infertile patients undergoing assisted reproduction. She is certified as a Clinical and Health Psychology Specialist and Psychotherapy Specialist by the Portuguese Board of Psychologists and the Portuguese Association for Behavior Therapy (APTC).

Her research focuses on psychosocial transitions to parenthood, infertility, and assisted reproduction. She has contributed to the development of context-sensitive psychological flexibility measures and explored the impact of chronic illness on mental health. Her work spans reproductive ethics, gamete analysis, and cross-cultural shame assessment, with a strong emphasis on mindfulness-based interventions and cognitive-behavioral therapies.

She leads the Psychology and Counselling Special Interest Group of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and has co-led the Cost Action Workgroup on Ethical Standards in Peripartum Depression Research. As a former Associate Editor for Human Reproduction and Human Reproduction Open, she has shaped discourse in reproductive psychology. Her clinical and research roles bridge patient care, guideline development, and international collaboration in reproductive health.
