Mariana Giusti Rodríguez is an Assistant Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California, since 2018. She holds a PhD in Government from Cornell University (2018), an MA in Government from Cornell (2013), and a BA in Political Science and Latin American Studies from Bard College (2007). Her research focuses on ethnic politics, comparative political behavior, political representation, and social movements in Latin America, with a regional emphasis on Bolivia and Peru.
Her current book project examines how social fractures translate into stable party systems, analyzing party system reconstruction efforts in Peru and Bolivia. This work, supported by grants from the Fulbright-Hays Program, Ford Foundation, and others, incorporates fieldwork conducted between 2013 and 2016. She teaches courses on comparative politics, Latin American politics, and Latin American cultures/history.
Dr. Giusti Rodríguez has received awards including the U.S. Fulbright Student Program Fellowship and multiple institutional grants. Her research highlights the intersection of social networks, ethnic cleavages, and political representation in Andean contexts.
