Marian Walhout

Marian Walhout is Professor and Chair of Systems Biology at UMass Chan Medical School, holding the Maroun Semaan Chair in Biomedical Research. She holds joint appointments in Molecular Medicine, Bioinformatics, and serves as faculty in multiple graduate programs including Biophysical Chemical Biology and MD/PhD. Her lab focuses on gene regulatory and metabolic networks using integrative approaches.

Research examines metabolite sensing mechanisms, mathematical modeling of biological systems, and validation of gene regulatory networks. Current work investigates how organisms adapt to dietary changes and maintain metabolic homeostasis, with implications for longevity and disease. The lab employs C. elegans and mammalian models to study transcriptional regulation across species.
