Maria del Carmen Sanchez Avila

Maria del Carmen Sanchez Avila serves as a Professor in the Department of Mathematics Applied to Information and Communication Technologies at the Polytechnic University of Madrid since September 2012. She leads the Biometrics, Biosignals, Security and Smart Mobility Research Group as Principal Investigator (since July 2017) and is a longstanding member of the Comprehensive Home Automation Center (CEDINT) since January 2004.

Her research spans interdisciplinary domains at the intersection of mathematical theory and information technologies, with core expertise in:

• Biometric authentication systems and biosignal analysis
• Advanced signal processing for security applications
• Computer vision and pattern recognition algorithms
