Maria Stamelou is a Visiting Associate Professor in Neurology at the School of Medicine, European University of Cyprus. She holds academic qualifications including an Apl. Professor title from Philipps University, Marburg, Germany (2017), and a PhD in Neurology (2009) from the same institution. Her career includes roles as Principal Investigator in multiple neurology-related clinical trials and editorial leadership at the Movement Disorders Journal.
Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinsonian syndromes like Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Key interests include clinical diagnosis criteria validation, neuroprotection strategies, and genetic Parkinsonism.
