Maria Rólandsdóttir í Skorini is a Lecturer in Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Faroe Islands. Her teaching responsibilities include foundational courses in nursing, ethics, nursing theories, simulation training, and instruction in anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry for first-year nursing students. She also supervises bachelor's projects annually.
Research Interests:
- Clinical and theoretical nursing
- Qualitative research design
- Medication use and health status in elderly populations
- Transitional care for patients with complex needs
- Geriatric nursing and dementia care
Education:
- Master of Science in Nursing (Århus University, 2016) - Thesis: "Experience of district nurses when taking over responsibility for patients with complex needs in transition from hospital to home"
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (University of the Faroe Islands, 2012) - Thesis: "Relatives' experiences of taking over the responsibility for people with dementia"

Current Research: Maria is actively involved in the project "Medication use and health status among elderly Faroese citizens," leading the qualitative component focusing on interviews with citizens over 90 years old and their relatives.
