Maria Melley is a Researcher in the Department of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Parma, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. She has been a core academic member since 2007, teaching in both undergraduate and graduate architecture programs. Her role integrates research, teaching, and professional architectural practice with a strong emphasis on representation, landscape, and heritage.

She explores the synthesis of artifice and nature in urban and rural environments, focusing on graphical depiction and technological integration in architectural documentation. The recent publications (2022–2024) reflect a consistent focus on sustainable heritage, restoration techniques, and the transformation of architectural and infrastructural typologies. Key themes include hydroelectric revitalization of historic canals, cloister metrology, stadium evolution, and rescue of rural railway housing. These works demonstrate interdisciplinary methods combining historical research, digital survey, and sustainable design.
Teaching & Academic Service:
- Longstanding involvement since 1994 in courses related to descriptive geometry, architectural drawing, and landscape representation.
