Maria Loredana Pelle' is Associate Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Salento, Italy, where she is tenured within the Department of Humanities (Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici). She also teaches the History of Global Interdependencies at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, Languages and Cultural Heritage.
Education
- 1992 – Laurea con lode in Materie Letterarie, University of Lecce, thesis: "Il socialismo italiano e i problemi del Mezzogiorno attraverso l' 'Avanti!' (1900–1904)"
- 1998 – Post-graduate certificate in "Il Mezzogiorno Contemporaneo", Department of Philosophy, University of Lecce
- 2004 – Ph.D. in "Ermeneutica della Storia: tra storiografia politico-sociale e storiografica scientifico-fisica", University of Lecce, dissertation: "Il Piano Marshall e la ricostruzione in Puglia (1947–1952)"
Research Focus
Her scholarly work centres on twentieth-century Italian and Apulian history. She has conducted extensive research on the impact of the Marshall Plan in Puglia, the relationship between Italian socialism and Southern Italy, and the social transformations in Apulia during World War I. Methodological reflection on contemporary historiography underpins all of her projects.
Teaching & Academic Service
Besides offering courses in Contemporary History and the History of Global Interdependencies, Professor Pelle' coordinates the "Other Educational Activities" committee for the B.A. programme in Technical-Scientific Translation and Interpreting. Weekly office hours are held every Wednesday 10:00–12:00 in Studium 2000, Building 5, second floor, room 16.
