Maria Leonidou

Maria Leonidou is a Lecturer in the Department of Health Sciences at the School of Sciences, European University Cyprus (EUC). She holds a Doctor of Professional Studies (DProf) in Health Management from Middlesex University (2014) and an MD from the University of Patras Medical School (1985-1995). Her professional roles include teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Public Health and Gerontology, as well as serving as a consultant and examiner for dissertations at EUC and Cyprus College.

• Research Focus: Diabetes prevention, healthcare economics, and public health interventions

Leonidou has contributed to transnational research projects such as the Erasmus+ Transcultural Nursing Practice (TNP) initiative (2017–2019) and led her doctoral research on diabetes epidemiology using the FINDRISK screening tool. She actively participates in academic committees, including the Special Educational Needs Committee and the Departmental Committee of Health Sciences at EUC.

Her outreach efforts include coordinating ExxonMobil-EUC health prevention programs (2007–2019), organizing over 18 free community health screenings annually. She has also presented research at international congresses in Public Health and Internal Medicine.
