Maria Johansson is an Associate Professor at the Department of Education, Umeå University. Her work focuses on gender studies, education policy, sustainability, and sociology, with a particular emphasis on labor dynamics in forestry and gender inclusion in sports. She leads the research project 'Towards a gender equal and sustainable wildlife management' (2022–2024), funded by Umeå University.
Her research explores themes such as gendered labor divisions in Swedish forestry, cultural practices in martial arts clubs, and policy interventions for sustainability and equality. She is affiliated with Umeå University's Mediagränd 14 campus and can be contacted at maria.johansson01@umu.se.
