Maria J. Arche is a Professor of Linguistics & Spanish at the University of Greenwich, serving as Deputy Director of the Institute of Inclusive Communities and Environments and Lead of the Centre for Research in Language and Heritage (CREL). She holds a PhD in Theoretical Linguistics & Language Acquisition from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with supervisory input from UCLA and UAM. Her interdisciplinary research examines the syntax-semantics interface with focus on tense, aspect, argument structure and copular verbs across Spanish grammar, acquisition, and crosslinguistic variation.
Dr. Arche pioneered initiatives addressing language difficulties through the ATLAS Manifesto and chairs the EU COST Action Justice to Youth Language Needs. Her work integrates linguistic theory with applications in education and justice systems.
Her publication trends demonstrate consistent focus on: L2 acquisition mechanisms, crosslinguistic comparisons of grammatical structures, theoretical analyses of aspectual phenomena, and innovative methodologies in experimental linguistics.
