Maria Grisell VARGAS-DREYER

Maria Grisell VARGAS-DREYER is a Clinical Professor at the Université de Montréal, holding dual affiliations in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology within the Faculty of Medicine. She serves as a part-time researcher at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and is a clinician specializing in pain management at the CHUM’s Pain Clinic. Her expertise focuses on chronic pain treatment, opioid-related risks, and interdisciplinary pain education.

Research Contributions: She founded the CHUM’s Groupe d’éducation thérapeutique en douleur chronique and has authored 3 books, 6 book chapters, and over 60 peer-reviewed publications on pain management. Her work includes a notable 2013–2014 study funded by Purdue Pharma titled “ATTITUDES TOWARDS OPIOIDS AND RISK OF ADDICTION IN THE CHRONIC PAIN POPULATION.”
