Maria Gluys is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Ohio Dominican University, where she also serves as Academic Coordinator. She holds an M.P.A.S. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a B.S. in Physician Assistant Studies and Spanish from Butler University. Her professional roles combine clinical practice with academic leadership.

Her research interests focus on healthcare access for underserved populations, shaped by her clinical experience in emergency medicine, occupational medicine, internal medicine, and urgent care. She has dedicated time to global health initiatives, including a nine-month medical service trip in Peru and projects in Costa Rica and Honduras, emphasizing education and basic care for marginalized communities. Maria actively integrates her passion for serving vulnerable populations into her academic mentorship of future physician assistants.
She currently maintains clinical involvement at Mt. Carmel Health Systems in Ohio, balancing her academic duties with periodic shifts in the Emergency Department. Her personal interests include travel, reading, and outdoor activities alongside her family of four children.
