Maria Francesca Bonadonna is an Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Verona. Her academic focus is within the FRAN-01/B sector of French Language, Translation and Linguistics, with research intersecting theoretical linguistics, computational linguistics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and language learning and processing.
Her research interests span several key areas of French Linguistics:
- Teaching methodology of L2 French, including structured lexicon teaching and CLIL methodology
- Special lexicography, particularly French sports vocabulary and fencing terminology
- Neology, studying contemporary French neologisms in sports, trade and tourism
- French terminology across multiple domains including international trade, cryptocurrency, fashion (both diachronic and synchronic studies), and energy
Her work demonstrates a strong focus on practical applications of linguistic theory, particularly in educational contexts and specialized communication domains. She has conducted extensive research on metaphor in fashion magazines, metonymy in clothing terminology, and adjective usage in renewable energy terminology.
Dr. Bonadonna has received recognition for her scholarly work, most notably the Laboratorio francesisti.it award in 2016 from the Società Universitaria per gli Studi di Lingua e Letteratura Francese for her doctoral thesis reworking.
