Maria-Florina Balcan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, renowned for her contributions to machine learning theory and its applications to algorithmic economics, AI, and optimization. She has been recognized as an ACM Fellow (2023) and received the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award (2019) for her foundational work in minimally-supervised learning.
