Maria Fabricius Hansen is Professor of Art History at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, where she has served since 2014 (promoted to Professor in 2022). Previously, she was Associate Professor at Aarhus University (2002-2014) following Assistant Professorship there (1998-2002), with earlier part-time appointment at the University of Copenhagen (1996-1997).

Recent publications reveal sustained engagement with Renaissance studies (particularly grotesque frescoes) and methodological innovation in cultural history. Her 2025 works demonstrate consistent focus on early modern court culture, architectural analysis, and contemporary collaborative practices, reflecting both historical depth and contemporary relevance.
