Maria Elena Roget Armengol

Dr. Maria Elena Roget Armengol is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Girona (UdG). With a PhD in Physics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1992), she is a leading researcher in environmental fluid dynamics, focusing on hydrodynamics, turbulence in aquatic systems, and feedback processes between the hydrosphere and atmosphere.

Her research spans continental water systems, coastal regions, and oceans, with fieldwork in Germany, Spain, Japan, the U.S., China, Central Asia, and the North and South Atlantic. She has led over 15 competitive research projects and coordinated international initiatives funded by NATO and the EU.

Dr. Roget Armengol has organized key conferences on the Aral Sea (Girona, 2007; Tashkent, 2008) and co-organized sessions at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly. She currently collaborates with the Barcelona Institute of Marine Sciences on oceanic mixing processes in the South Atlantic.
