Maria Duenas is a Researcher affiliated with the School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Western Australia (UWA) and the Telethon Kids Institute. Her current role since October 2023 is Postdoctoral Researcher in the END Rheumatic Heart Disease program, focusing on advancing mucosal Strep A vaccine candidates through proteomics and immunology research. She holds a PhD from Iowa State University (USA) and was a Senior Research Associate at Newcastle University (UK) from 2019–2023. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.

Articles: Recent work spans TGF-β signaling suppression, Burkholderia pseudomallei pathogenesis, and chemoproteomics applications in drug discovery.
Awards: Recipient of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship (2019) for drug discovery research.
