معرفی
Dr. Maria Dance is a Teaching Associate in Physical Geography at the University of Cambridge's Department of Geography. Her research focuses on Arctic ecosystems and climate change, employing tools like genetics, paleorecords, and remote sensing. She has held roles including Research Associate at the Scott Polar Institute and Guest Lecturer at the University Centre in Svalbard.
Education:
- DPhil Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford (2023)
- MRes in Ecosystem and Environmental Change, Imperial College London (2017)
- BA Biological Sciences, University of Oxford (2016)
Research Interests: Maria investigates Arctic tundra greening (shrubification), genetic responses to climate change in species like dwarf birches, and the ecological history of reindeer. She also addresses challenges faced by women in polar fieldwork. Her work bridges biogeography, environmental genetics, and climate dynamics.
Awards:
- GCEE Prize (Imperial College London, 2017)
- College Prize (St John’s College, 2016)
Teaching & Mentorship: Coordinates Part 1A fieldwork and data analysis courses, contributes to Biogeography postgraduate teaching. Mentors undergraduate/MPhil students in Arctic ecology and climate change. Previously served as Graduate Tutor at Oxford and Parliamentary Science Fellow.
Research Group: Member of the Biogeography and Biogeomorphology group at Cambridge.
