Maria Clara Bingemer

Maria Clara Bingemer, Ph.D., is a senior researcher at the Center for Research in Theology and Religious Studies (CITER) affiliated with the Faculty of Theology at the Catholic University of Portugal. Her work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of Public Theology and cultural ecology during global crises.

Research Interests: Bingemer specializes in Theology, Religious Studies, Mysticism, Liberation Theology, Theopoetics, Latin American Studies, and Gender and Religion. She explores intersections between cultural ecology, intercultural living, and theological responses to pandemics.

Recent Projects: She contributes to the COLIVING2020 project (2020-2025) on Public Theology and cultural ecology, and the CITER research center’s initiatives. She co-edited Ecologia e hermenêuticas do feminino (2025) and published Teopoética: mística e poesia (2020) and Mística e literatura (2019).
