Maria Angelica Alliende Rodriguez is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology within the University of Chile's Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on genetic disorders, particularly fragile X syndrome, chromosome 15 imprinting disorders, and neurodevelopmental abnormalities, with extensive publications in molecular genetics, clinical diagnostics, and public health applications.
- Education: Master in Biological Sciences (1991), Medical Technologist (1975), both from the University of Chile.
Her work spans molecular techniques for fragile X syndrome diagnosis, newborn screening workflows, and clinical-genetic correlations in neurodevelopmental disorders. She has contributed to understanding FMR1 expression, mosaicism, and autistic features in genetic conditions.
Key collaborations include studies on genetic screening, subtelomeric assays, and clinical management of Prader-Willi/Angelman syndromes. Her publications (1991–2023) reflect interdisciplinary research in genetics, neuroscience, and public health policy in Chile.
