Mari Kornhauser is Professor in the English Department's Creative Writing Program at LSU. Holding an MFA from UCLA, she previously wrote for film and television in Los Angeles, including the Peabody award-winning HBO series TREME. Her film work includes writing, co-producing, and directing independent features.
Teaching focuses on writing for film and television from production perspectives, including courses in screenwriting, writing/acting for short films, and web series creation. Research explores complex human relationships and social narratives through cinematic storytelling.
Documentary work includes post-Hurricane Katrina videography licensed by numerous organizations. Professional memberships include Writer's Guild of America West and University Film and Video Association.
