Mari Fujimoto is Lecturer in Japanese Language and Japanese Linguistics at Queens College, CUNY, where she serves as Language Coordinator for Japanese and Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL) Coordinator. She holds a PhD from CUNY Graduate Center.
Research specializes in psycholinguistics, particularly syntactic/semantic analysis of L1 acquisition of Japanese particles. Additional focus areas include language/culture pedagogy, second language acquisition, and teacher training. Believes language learning facilitates cultural understanding.
Coordinates study abroad programs and the JET Program for students. Authored the textbook Nippon GO! and cultural guide Ikigai and Other Japanese Words to Live By.
