معرفی
Margot White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada. She holds a PhD from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego (2014–2021), and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, ETH Zurich (2021–2025). Her research focuses on biogeochemical cycles in marine and lacustrine systems, with an emphasis on dissolved organic matter, radiocarbon dynamics, and climate impacts.
Her work integrates field observations, isotopic analyses, and novel analytical techniques to investigate processes such as organic carbon burial in lakes, oxygen minimum zone dynamics, and the influence of climatic events (e.g., El Niño) on nitrogen and carbon cycling. Recent studies highlight her contributions to understanding tropical cyclone effects on oceanic oxygen levels and the role of authigenic calcite in lake CO₂ sequestration.
Publications span journals like Science Advances, Limnology & Oceanography, and Nature Communications, reflecting her expertise in marine and limnological biogeochemistry. While no formal awards or grants are listed, her active research program engages with pressing environmental challenges, including climate change impacts on marine ecosystems.
