Dr. Margot Saher is a Senior Lecturer in Ocean Sciences at Bangor University's School of Ocean Sciences (SOS), serving as SOS EDI Lead and Academic Integrity Officer. She holds a PhD (2007) and MSc from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in paleoclimatology and tectonics. Her research focuses on glacial history, sea level changes, and the British-Irish Ice Sheet, with fieldwork in the North Atlantic and Arctic regions.
Teaching responsibilities include modules like Earth, Climate and Evolution (OSX1003), Ice and Oceans (OSX2011), and advanced fieldwork (OSX3007). She contributed to major projects like BRITICE-CHRONO (2014-2017) reconstructing ice sheet dynamics and SeaLevel500 (2009-2011) studying recent sea level fluctuations. Her work integrates sediment core analysis, geochronology, and geophysical data across disciplines including micropaleontology and geochemistry.
Recent publications (2018-2022) emphasize ice sheet retreat mechanisms, deglaciation timing, and sea level variability in regions like the North Sea, Celtic Sea, and Irish margin. Collaborations span international institutions including the Norwegian Polar Institute and Universities of York/Plymouth, reflecting her transnational research network.
