Margit Burmeister serves as a Professor at Jülich Research Centre within the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM), specifically in the Department of Structural and Functional Organization of the Brain (INM-1). She maintains an external collaboration with the University of Michigan, USA, contributing to interdisciplinary neuroscience research while based at the German research institution.
Her primary research focuses on elucidating the structural and functional architecture of the human brain through advanced neuroimaging techniques. Key areas include mapping neural connectivity, analyzing brain morphology, investigating functional networks, and developing methodologies for structural-functional correlation studies. This work integrates computational neuroscience with empirical imaging data to advance understanding of brain organization in health and disease.
As a core member of the INM-1 department, Prof. Burmeister participates in a specialized research team utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), and other neuroimaging modalities. The department operates within Jülich Research Centre's broader neuroscience ecosystem, collaborating with clinical partners and international institutions to translate structural and functional brain mapping into biomedical applications.
