Marge Monko is a Professor in the Department of Photography at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn. She holds an MA in Photography from the Estonian Academy of Arts (2008) and advanced training at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and HISK (Higher Institute for Contemporary Art) in Ghent. Her interdisciplinary practice spans photography, video, and installation, focusing on historical events, psychoanalytic theory, feminism, and visual culture. Recent works explore romantic discourse in advertising, Neolithic symbolism, and post-Soviet material culture.
Key research interests include:

- Psychoanalytic frameworks in feminist art
Monko’s works are featured in major collections including MUMOK (Vienna), Muzeum Sztuki (Łódź), and the Estonian Art Museum. Notable awards include the Henkel.Art.Award (2012). Her residencies include ISCP (New York), ParaSite (Hong Kong), and Videobrasil (São Paulo). Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Folkwang Museum (Germany) and group exhibitions at RIBOCA (Riga), Framer Framed (Amsterdam), and Playground Festival (Belgium).
Her monograph Flawless, Seamless (2022) and zine Goddess (2023) critically examine feminist themes. Current projects address prehistoric matriarchal societies and Estonian cultural identity through modernist architectural analysis.
