Margarita Chli is an Assistant Professor at ETH Zurich where she leads the Vision for Robotics Lab (V4RL) and serves as vice-director of the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS). She obtained her PhD in Computing from Imperial College London, followed by research positions at ETH Zurich and the University of Edinburgh focusing on drone perception systems.
Her research advances autonomous robotics through computer vision, particularly enabling vision-based navigation for unmanned aerial vehicles. Key achievements include pioneering the first vision-controlled autonomous flight of small helicopters. Recognition includes features in Robohub's '25 Women in Robotics', Reuters, and CNN, plus invited talks at the World Economic Forum and ICRA.
Research emphasizes real-time perception algorithms for robotic autonomy in unstructured environments. Current V4RL projects focus on 3D scene understanding and robust state estimation for agile aerial navigation.
