Margarita Altuna

Margarita Altuna is a Lecturer of Spanish in the Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida (Sarasota-Manatee campus). Originally from Quito, Ecuador, she is currently a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in Spanish Languages and Latin American Literature at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Her research focuses on 19th-20th century Spanish American Literature, with special emphasis on Ecuadorian Literature, Afro-Ecuadorian Literature, Latin American Civilization, and intersections between Literature and Journalism. Her work also explores Literature and Cinema as interdisciplinary frameworks.

Margarita's publications reflect her expertise in Ecuadorian literary traditions and critical analysis of modernist Latin American writers. She has contributed to Casa Palabras Revista Cultural de la CCE, focusing on literary theory and historical contexts.
