Margarete Menz

Margarete Menz is a Senior Lecturer at the Pedagogical University of Schwäbisch Gmünd, affiliated with the Department of Educational Science / General Pedagogy. Her career spans roles as a DFG Scholar, Research Assistant, and Substitute Professor at institutions including Helmut-Schmidt-Universität Hamburg and Universität Flensburg. She currently serves as the Equal Opportunities Commissioner (Gleichstellungsbeauftragte) at PH Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Dr. Menz’s research focuses on gender studies, migration pedagogy, and qualitative educational research. She investigates how gender norms, cultural difference, and institutional practices intersect in educational contexts, particularly in preschools and academia. Her work emphasizes subjectification processes, equity in education, and critical difference pedagogy.

Her recent publications analyze emancipation in migration societies, professional identity in childcare, and equity practices in preschools. She has led projects funded by the BMBF (SODETE, GENKOREX) and the DFG, examining parental and institutional dynamics in early education. Dr. Menz also contributes to qualitative methodology and the politics of gender equality.
