Margaret Tan

Dr. Margaret Tan is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Programmes at Tembusu College, National University of Singapore. She oversees major initiatives including the Tembusu Forum, Master’s Tea, Formal Dinners, and interdisciplinary workshops. As Co-director of the NUS Art/Science Residency Programme, she bridges creative and scientific inquiry. Her research focuses on the societal impacts of technology, particularly pervasive computing and Singapore's 'Intelligent Nation 2015' initiative.

Education: PhD (Communications & New Media, NUS), MA (Interactive Media & Critical Theory, Goldsmiths, University of London), BFA (RMIT/Lasalle College of the Arts).

Research Interests: Interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of art, science, technology, and culture. Explores feminist perspectives on digital media, urban spaces, and educational innovation. Advocates for transformative pedagogies encouraging critical thinking and multiple viewpoints.

Program Leadership: Designs innovative educational programs both within and beyond traditional classrooms. Co-leads arts-science collaborations and oversees college-wide cultural initiatives.
