Margaret Marshman is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast, serving as Discipline Lead for Postgraduate and HDR Education and Discipline Lead for Secondary and Outdoor Education within the School of Education and Tertiary Access. A former physicist in hospital laser physics and MRI, she transitioned to education, becoming a secondary mathematics and science teacher and Head of Department on the Gold Coast. She coordinates the Mathematics Teachers Hub of the Sunshine Coast and serves as Program Coordinator for the Graduate Certificate in Education and Graduate Certificate in Education Research.

- Research: Focuses on mathematics education, teacher beliefs, statistical thinking, and STEM curriculum reform
- Grants: Lead investigator on a 2022-2023 project with Independent Schools Queensland ($20,000) addressing school mathematics curriculum reform
Margaret's research spans mathematics education, science education, and teacher training. Recent publications (2024-2025) examine school belonging in special education, hybrid teacher identities, STEM policy gaps, affective domains in mathematics, and statistical thinking strategies. She supervises doctoral and master’s students in education, including Marie Hayward, whose 2023 dissertation explored school belonging in Australian special schools.
