Margaret Malone

Margaret Malone is a Lecturer in European Studies and Director of the Parliamentary Internship Programme at the Institute of Public Administration (IPA), affiliated with the Whitaker School of Government and Management. She holds a PhD in European Parliament studies from the University of Limerick, where she also earned a First Class Honours degree and MA in European Integration and Public Administration.

Her teaching includes the EU Governance module for the IPA’s Doctorate in Governance Programme and European Studies components of the MA in Public Management. She supervises Master’s and Doctoral dissertations and directs the IPA’s internship programme for US students, integrating academic and practical insights into EU affairs.

Margaret publishes the IPA’s Annual Review of EU Developments in the journal Administration and has conducted government-funded research on lobbying in developed countries. Her work emphasizes EU governance structures, transparency, constitutional evolution, and the interplay between European integration and national identity.

Key achievements include her Distinguished Performance Medal and contributions to parliamentary reform studies. Her consultancy work and publications underscore her role as a leading expert in EU institutional dynamics.
