Margaret Kyle Cerna Mines is a Professor at the Mines ParisTech school of Mines Paris - PSL, affiliated with the Centre for Industrial Economics (CERNA). She holds the Chair in Markets for Technology and Intellectual Property and serves on the Conseil National de Productivité in France. Kyle is an associate editor at the International Journal of Industrial Organization and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy. Her academic career includes prior faculty roles at Carnegie Mellon University, Duke University, London Business School, and Toulouse School of Economics, with visiting scholar appointments at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, University of Hong Kong, and Northwestern University.

Kyle’s research focuses on innovation, productivity, and competition, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry, geographic and academic spillovers, generic competition, and markets for technology. Recent work explores how trade and IP policies influence R&D investment, competition, and innovation access in developing countries. Her publications appear in top-tier journals like the Quarterly Journal of Economics, RAND Journal of Economics, and Management Science. She advises doctoral students such as Maddalena Agnoli and Victor Kahn, who study innovation patterns in emerging economies and energy economics, respectively.
