Dr. Margaret Kadiri is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography Education at King's College London, based in the Department of Geography within the School of Global Affairs. She holds a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London, focusing on particle-associated contaminants in coastal managed realignment sites. Her work bridges environmental science and socio-technical systems, emphasizing tidal renewable energy impacts, nutrient cycling, and community interactions with marine infrastructure. Prior to King’s, she conducted research at Cardiff University on tidal energy and water quality.
- Education: PhD in Physical Geography (Queen Mary, University of London)
- Affiliations: King's Water Centre, Physical & Environmental Geography research group
Her research explores hydro-environmental impacts of marine energy projects, eutrophication risks, and socio-environmental governance. She has expanded into interdisciplinary studies on community acceptance of large-scale marine projects and low-carbon energy transitions. Notable contributions include modeling tidal lagoon effects and evaluating virtual reality applications in geography education.
Her publications address eutrophication dynamics, tidal energy infrastructure, and coastal zone management strategies. She actively participates in initiatives like the WORLD: we got this podcast series, discussing mental health and environmental well-being during lockdowns.
Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing climate action and sustainable cities. She is committed to enhancing diversity in academic leadership, as highlighted in her 2021 interview on ethnic minority representation.
